Ye Maya Chesave (Telugu: ఏమాయ చేసావే English: How have you charmed me?) is a 2010 Telugu romance film directed and story by Gautham Menon, which features Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, in her feature film debut, in the lead roles. The film, produced by Manjula Ghattamaneni under Indira Productions, features a successful music soundtrack composed by A. R. Rahman, cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa,dialogues by Umarji Anuradha and editing by Anthony Gonsalves. This is the Telugu version of the simultaneously shot Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa in Tamil with Silambarasan and Trisha .^[1]

The film explores the complicated relationship between a Hindu Telugu assistant director, Karthik, and a Malayali Christian girl, Jessie. Karthik falls in love with Jessie only to be met by her indifference, behaving reluctant due to the fact that they belong to different religions and her strict conservative family will never consent to this. An unperturbed Karthik keeps following and wooing her, who eventually falls for his charms. However, they have to undergo many problems and emotional conflicts; whether they can overcome all hurdles forming the crux.

Both the films were made and released simultaneously. The Tamil version, with the initial schedule with the lead cast in August 2009, following much speculation that Gautham Menon was set to remake the film with Manjula's brother, Mahesh Babu.^[2] Shooting continued through the latter part of 2009, with the film garnering significant media interest, with schedules in the United States, with Princeton University being used as a backdrop for song picturisation.^[3] Prior to release, the film's music soundtrack experienced phenomenal success for a Telugu film, with Rahman being critically praised for his score. The film, released on 26 February 2010, along with the Tamil version to advanced bookings worldwide and received positive reviews and became a good hit.

Dil Se (Hindi: दिल से, translation: From the Heart) is a 1998 Hindi film directed by Mani Ratnam. The film stars Shahrukh Khan, Manisha Koirala, and Preity Zinta. Mani Ratnam also wrote the screenplay for the film. It was produced by Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma in conjunction with Shekar Kapur.

The film was shot in Kashmir, Assam, Delhi, Kerala and other parts of India and Bhutan over a period of 55 days. Its cinematography won a National Film Award for cinematographer Santosh Sivan. The film went on to win the Netpac Award for Special Mention at the Berlin International Film Festival, two National Film Awards, and six Filmfare Awards. Despite being a box office failure in India, the film was a success overseas, becoming the first Indian film to enter the top 10 in the United Kingdom box office charts.^[2]^[3]

Wake Up Sid is a 2009 Hindi romantic comedy film.^[3] It is directed by Ayan Mukerji, produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, distributed by UTV Motion Pictures, and has visual effects by the Prime Focus Group.^[4] The film takes place in contemporary Mumbai and tells the story of spoiled, selfish rich-kid Sid Mehra (Ranbir Kapoor), a college student who is taught the meaning of life by Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer from Kolkata.
